Wow! Our initial year was an extreme experience! It was either
The
Noise
began on September 25th, 1997, in
Detroit,
MI and the
Funk
continued into
Washington, D.C.; New
Haven, CT and
Minneapolis,
MN.
1998
opened with a joyful noise in
Denver,
CO and rumbled into
Sacramento, CA;
Seattle, WA and
Portland,
OR.
As spring embraced us,
Noise/Funk
concluded an
absolutely raging two month engagement in
Los Angeles,
CA.
Noise/Funk
then completed a two week stint in
Philadelphia,
PA, then buzzed
through Boston,
MA.
A great month ensued in
Chicago,
IL
and the Windy City was hotter than July.
We cooled down the
first
installment of the
national tour in beautiful
Atlanta,
GA. We then returned to
Chicago, in August
to mop up the scuff marks we left on our first visit
when I just couldn't keep away from the
Hard work was all we could do to
recuperate from the
absolute
whirlwind of events which kept
us spinning
since autumn of 1997; what, with meeting such stars as:
...and so many more that I could be still typing!
And can we ever forget Richard's astonishing
COME ON
DOWN!
on
THE PRICE IS
RIGHT
(I actually won a new car!)
And how about
NOISE/FUNK
with their joyful and jocular jaunts on
THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO
I know you saw the absolutely awesome appearance of
NOISE/FUNK
when we guested on the now archival
VIBE with SINBAD
And what a truly great '97-'98 year for sports!
And if you know me, you know that
I love sports like Chopin and Ellington!
Hey! In Chicago, I visited that old brick and ivy baseball icon,
Wrigley Field
where I watched in awe on June 15th, as Sammy
Sosa
blasted three of his sixty six home runs and Kerry
Wood
struck out nine in a Chicago Cubs victory against the
Milwaukee Brewers.
The Chicago Bulls repeated
as NBA champs again, again, again...
What a wild party they held at Grant Park!
I had to go, just to watch, even though you know I'm a N.Y.
Knicks fan!
What an absolute shame that the NBA couldn't decide on how to
divvy up a billion dollars!
What an ugly way to have gotten rid of Michael Jordan!
Well, at least they played a few meaningless games in the fall and
winter.
The Detroit
Red Wings wasted the Washington
Capitals.
(Yes, I love hockey too; thanks Dad!)
I even got a chance to see a world
series game at Yankee Stadium
as my Yankees shattered baseball history, again!
But sports aside, I still think
back to the summer of '98,
as I spent a timely and relaxing vacation
cruising the Caribbean with my wife, Cynthia
after which we spent a glorious week with our daughters,
Diarra
and Imani,
in the beautiful Bermuda Isles.
And even as 1999 came into view, I Thanked God for continued employment!
Noise/Funk is gonna take it into the new millennium!
Where's my baton? See you in 'da pit!
